Senator Johnson Sakaja of Nairobi gubernatorial race headline on Fake Degree

Senator Johnson Sakaja of Nairobi has been given till noon on Monday to present proof to refute charges that he lacks the academic credentials to run for governor of Nairobi.

This comes after four claimants expressed concerns about his academic credentials, which they believe were obtained unlawfully.

After appealing with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Dispute Resolution Committee to accrue serious facts on the claims, Sakaja's lawyer, Adrian Kamotho, was permitted on Sunday.

"I implore this tribunal to provide me additional time to make a formal application requesting the recusal of one of the IEBC tribunal's three members, as well as to respond to the charges levelled against Mr Sakaja," Kamotho said.

Sakaja is having problems with his Team University degree certificate in Uganda. Dennis Gakuo is one of the complainants seeking to have his nomination overturned due to his lack of a recognized university credential.

The University of Nairobi, where Sakaja claims to have earned an Actuarial Science degree, acknowledged that the lawmaker has not yet graduated.

Sakaja's transcripts are faulty and have not been signed, according to the University.

Sakaja is under increasing pressure to clarify whether or not the charges levelled against him are accurate.

"They'll then claim that I wasn't born. Don't rely on propaganda; instead, sell your candidate. Our march is inexorable, our faith unwavering, and triumph is a foregone conclusion "In a previous interview, Sakaja stated.
