Charity Ngilu, the governor of Kitui, will not run for re-election on August 9.

Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement in Kenya (ODM), has stated that the county head will be given a seat in his government.

During a campaign stop in Kitui, Raila invited Kenyans to pick between Jubilee's David Musila and Wiper's Julius Malombe.

"We want to send Ngilu to Nairobi, so whichever you chose, whether it's Malombe or Musila, it'll be up to you," Raila stated.

He further stated that if he wins the election in August, his administration will ensure that counties receive more than 35% of the money.

Residents can choose any candidate from the 26 candidates that make up the Azimio la Umoja coalition party, according to the ODM leader.

"We have Jubilee, ODM, Narc, Narc Kenya in the team of 26 parties... It is you to decide who to vote from among the parties since we are all in Azimio," he said.
