Wavinya Ndeti, a Machakos Wiper governor candidate, presented a letter from London South Bank University on Thursday establishing her status as an alumnus.
The move occurred after questions were raised about the legitimacy of her degree.
"We believe that this will sufficiently debunk the erroneous lies being sold by our clumsy competitors and silence critics," she said on Facebook, which she has since deleted.
Wavinya's letter stated that she studied computer technology for ten months, from September 1994 to July 1995.
"This is to certify that the above-named person (Wavinya Oduwole) was a full-time student at South Bank (now London South Bank University) from September 1994 to July 1995 studying on the BSc (Hons) Computing Studies Course," the document from London South Bank University states.
"On July 18, 1995, Wavinya Oduwole satisfactorily finished the course and was given a Lower Second Class Honours(2.2)."
The Institution, on the other hand, was unable to furnish documents.
"Sadly, we are unable to produce a citation because our student documentation did not have the capability to hold the information needed for a transcript until September 1998. We only have records of enrolment, progression, and award prior to that date "The letter was added.
In Kenya, a four-year degree is the norm, with the exception of engineering and medical degrees, which require five and six years, respectively.
The governor candidate, on the other hand, has claimed that the degree is genuine while expressing confidence that she will be on the ballot.
"We're not discouraged by their annoyances and sideshows. Our objective is to win and serve for Machakos County residents."
