The public will be able to use the social spaces again; Uhuru Park and Central Park will re-open in December 2022, says Johnson Sakaja, the governor of Nairobi.
The governor said that all residents of Nairobi would have free access to the recreational facilities, and there would be no admission fees for those who desire to visit the parks.
When launching World Tourism Day at City Hall in Nairobi, Sakaja remarked, "This is only the beginning. The county is in the process of renovating all the parks around the county where our people may relax and enjoy the environment."
Sakaja continued by saying that his government is working to restore all social spaces that have been taken and put back to use so that young people may develop their abilities and be creative.
Some of these social amenity areas have been taken by unscrupulous individuals, but we are recovering them, enhancing them, and building new ones to guarantee that every sub-county has at least one recreational facility, "said Sakaja.
To renovate Uhuru Park and Central Park and give them a more contemporary and strong appearance, NMS closed them to the general public in February of last year.
