Intercession church (GRC) Pastor Anthony Lusekelo, also known as "Mzee wa Upako," has shown two sides to the story of electronic transaction fees.

Speaking with the media,  "Mzee wa Upako" said the sixth phase government led by President Samia Suluhu Hassan has shown sensitivity to the public after reducing and canceling some charges in electronic transactions.

The charges started in July 2022 as part of the 2022 Finance Law. They only lasted two months before being changed because of complaints from different groups.
The amendment will take effect on October 1, 2022.

The basis of his argument is based on the importance of considering the actual rates that should be charged without hurting the citizens if it is different from his argument three weeks ago.

It will be remembered that on September 3, 2022, Mzee wa Upako was quoted in front of journalists saying that the first thing is the intention and willingness to pay taxes in the country.

"Rates are not a problem, the will of Tanzanians to contribute to the development of their country is not there. Even if you put sh100 they would stay (pay). The important thing is to build interest so that the government can achieve its goals."

In the recent argument, the Anointing Elder has said that the Kingdom of Israel under Rehoboam fell after he ignored the opinion of the elders who advised him to reduce the tax rates.

"But the President has considered the opinions and feelings of the people, unlike King Rehoboam, the tax, but what level brought him down," he said and added:
"Last month I said paying taxes is a must according to the Bible. Whoever opposes is either a cognac drinker or a cannabis smoker. No country runs without taxes."

When asked about the reasons for making two contradictory statements on the levy, Mzee wa Upako said earlier that he also questioned the importance of discussing rates.
