According to Kindiki Kithure, Nyumba Kumi administrators would get Ksh 500 for each of their two weekly meetings. The National Assembly's floor was where members of Parliament saw the screening of candidates for cabinet secretaries.
On Monday, October 18, Kithure Kindiki went to the National Assembly to answer questions about his appointment to the Ministry of Interior and how the national government works.
Kindiki is the candidate for the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of the National Government and the most recent senator for the county of Tharaka Nithi.
The ministry is also responsible for providing security and safety to people and property, maintaining a reliable national population registration system, fostering national unity, supporting the execution of justice, offering correctional services, and coordinating national government activities. These tasks are meant to foster Kenya's growth and prosperity.
The Nyumba Kumi project promotes community interaction and information sharing among the locals, who are also supposed to keep an eye out for security risks and advise the regional government and security agencies of any developments.
The Nyumba Kumi authorities, according to Kithure, should get funding since they are an essential part of the security system.
"Within our security architecture, Nyumba Kumi is a very important organ. This cadre has made small demands, such as KSH 500 for two meetings every week. That amounts to 1,000 shillings every week, "explained Kithure.
The contender for the cabinet said that non-core expenses are used to value resources and that the current budget may be repurposed.
"We can reduce non-essential spending and ensure that certain resources are allocated to recognize this crucial cadre at the heart of our police force by using the budget that is currently available," he said.
