John Gachomo fired over links with Kinoti

John Gachomo used to be in charge of the Investigations Bureau. He was the Director of the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Gachomo was recently the head of the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU). Two days after he got the job, he was fired suddenly because he was thought to have ties to the outgoing DCI leader, George Kinoti.

Gachomo was supposed to take over for Mohammed Amin as the next director of the DCI. Amin used to be in charge of the IAU.

On Friday, October 21, 2022, Acting Inspector-General of Police Noor Gabow cancelled his name on the position.

Gachomo had just about everything in place to start in his new role when he was summoned back to Jogoo House in Nairobi.

Reports say that Esther Ng'ang'a, who is currently the IAU's deputy director, will take over Gachomo's job while she waits for more orders.

According to a source who spoke to a national newspaper, "Gachomo was withdrawn and we will have the deputy director there take over for now."
