The leadership of the Amani National Congress (ANC) Party has been passed on from Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi to the new incumbent.

The African National Congress (ANC) chose Issa Timamy, the governor of Lamu, to be the interim head of the party starting on Wednesday, October 26.

"After being nominated for the post of Prime Cabinet Secretary of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency and Honourable Musalia Mudavadi stepped down from his position as the Leader of the African National Congress (ANC).

"This is in compliance with Article 77(2) of the Constitution of Kenya," stated an announcement that was issued by Simon Gikuru, the Secretary General of the ANC Party.

On October 17, when Mudavadi was being checked out for a spot in the Cabinet, he told the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments that he had quit his job as the head of the ANC Party.

Since 2015, when he started the party after leaving the United Democratic Forum Party, he has been the person in this position.

After President William Ruto's inauguration ceremony on Thursday, Mudavadi will take the oath of office that allows him to be Kenya's first Prime Cabinet Secretary.
