After pleading with Kenyans to give him one year to lower the high Unga prices, President William Ruto has once more failed to keep the pledges he made during his election campaign.

During the course of his campaign, President William Ruto and his running mate, Rigathi Gachagua, made a promise to the people of Kenya, and more specifically to the hustlers, that their first priority in power would be to bring down the cost of unga and fuel.

For over two months, both Ruto and his deputy have done nothing whatsoever to shield Kenyans from the exorbitant cost of food and gasoline.

"They are holding prayer rallies around the nation rather than lowering the cost of living, despite the fact that over 14 million people are at risk of starvation as a result of the current drought," one Azimio lawmaker said.

To make matters even more difficult, Deputy President William Ruto, who was in Kibra on Tuesday to open a residential development, appealed to Kenyans to give him a year so that he can tidy up the chaos he acquired from the administration of former President Uhuru Kenyatta and bring down the price of unga.

"During the time of the previous governments, the cost of maize flooring reached an all-time high of Ksh. 230. President William Ruto said, "I would like to ask the people of Kenya to be patient for a year so that the price of unga can go down."
