The son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has recently said that succeeding his father and becoming President of Uganda is the only way he can honour his mother.

This is one of his many "outbursts" on Twitter since he took over from his father, Yoweri Museveni. It is meant to scare the Ugandan opposition.

"I can only repay my wonderful mother by serving as President of Uganda! And I'll surely carry it out! " On Thursday," he said.

Muhoozi has previously said that Janet Museveni, the mother, had always been an angel to him.

"My mother has always protected me like an angel. She is flawless, in a word! "This is similar to how most guys feel about their moms!"

Muhoozi caused a stir in Uganda two weeks ago when he said that he would be the country's next president.

After his father retired, he assured the public that the opposition, led by musician-turned-politician Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, would never be able to take the helm of the nation.

"After my father, I will handily beat the opposition in Uganda in any election. More than they will ever love you, Ugandans adore me, "he added.

In 2026, voters in Uganda will choose a new leader. Museveni has been in charge of the nation since he came to office in 1978.

The National Unity Platform's leader, Bobi Wine, originally announced his candidacy for president in 2019, but he was defeated by Museveni in the subsequent elections in 2021.

Muhoozi has spoken in the past regarding the presidential transition of power.

But lately, President Museveni has said publicly that he would not choose his successor.

Even though there were rumors that he was getting his son Muhoozi Kainerugaba ready to take over, he didn't say anything about who he wanted to take over.
