During Saturday's Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium facing Southampton, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola might pick midfielder Rodri again.

The 26-year-old was back in the matchday squad against Copenhagen on Wednesday after being forced to sit out the Manchester derby due to injury. He sat on the substitutes' bench as they easily defeated Copenhagen 5-0.

Since Rodri is anticipated to rejoin the starting lineup this weekend, Bernardo Silva or Ilkay Gundogan may find themselves on the sidelines in this situation.

The English trio of John Stones (hamstring), Kalvin Phillips (shoulder), and Kyle Walker (groin), who had successful surgery this week but is now a serious World Cup concern, will be absent from City.

Both Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne were spared against Copenhagen, but they are expected to start again on Saturday. Phil Foden is looking to build on his hat-trick against Manchester United with another strong goal-scoring performance.

Erling Braut Haaland, another hat-trick hero in the Manchester derby, scored two more goals against Copenhagen before leaving the game at the half. In the match against Southampton, the Norwegian is predicted to start at the forefront of this movement once again, with Jack Grealish, who was awarded Man of the Match in midweek, perhaps rounding out the front three.

Ruben Dias and Aymeric Laporte played the full 90 minutes against the Saints in midweek, while Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake began the victory against Man United. 

 Guardiola will decide which two of his four available center backs will start against the Saints. This weekend, Laporte or Ake are expected to start alongside Dias or Akanji since Guardiola seems to prefer using a left-footed center-back to offer balance in the defense.

In Walker's absence, Joao Cancelo is anticipated to keep the right-back position, while Sergio Gomez, who performed well against Copenhagen, is anticipated to keep the left-back position.

Ederson, Cancelo, Dias, Ake, Gomez, De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo, Foden, Haaland, and Grealish might be Manchester City's starting lineup.
