Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki

On Tuesday, November 22, the hazardous Ngomeni area in Kitui County caused the comprehensive security mission of Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki to be interrupted.

Gunshots were fired by armed bandits who sought to take over a settlement, briefly interrupting Kindiki's address.

Four gunshots rent the air just a few minutes after Kindiki stood at the platform to address the residents, agitating the throng.

Enoch Wambua, a senator for Kitui, was compelled to intervene and beg Prof. Kindiki to leave since the sound of gunfire was growing closer.

"The residents of this neighborhood often worry about being murdered by gunmen." "The government must provide them with sufficient security," Wambua cried out.

When the Cabinet Secretary visited the area, the bandits, who had been terrorizing locals for years, made a bold move.

The function was taking place at Mandongoi Primary School in Mwingi North when the bandits reportedly reached as close as two kilometers.

Even as he was leaving the area of combat, Kindiki, who was escorted by the county security team, cautioned the bandits.

"We'll take care of these thieves properly and successfully. They won't be able to hide, "assured CS Kindiki.

He also said that the outlaws' bullets had dared him personally and the national security apparatus.

Kindiki predicted that the authorities, whom the outlaws have scorned and ignored, will soon contact them.

Criminals are simply criminals; that is the reality. They do not belong to any tribe or political party. To protect Kenyans' lives and property against unjustified attack, the government is willing to sacrifice votes, he reaffirmed.

Despite the area's recent spate of heinous crimes, the Kitui security team assured the locals that they were safe.

Professor Kindiki also took the time to offer his condolences to the families of two people killed by robbers.

Kindiki presented Ksh1 million to the Kitui people during his visit to Mwingi North as a contribution toward the completion of a police station project that had stalled.

He was there in response to the rising hostility between the townspeople and the herders.

"I want to issue a challenge to criminals who believe they possess superior violence, methods, or tools to the authorities to dare to confront us."

"Anywhere they go, we'll be there to follow. Until we eliminate this threat, we won't leave this area."
