On Tuesday, November 22, the hazardous Ngomeni area in Kitui County caused the comprehensive security mission of Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki to be interrupted.
Gunshots were fired by armed bandits who sought to take over a settlement, briefly interrupting Kindiki's address.
Four gunshots rent the air just a few minutes after Kindiki stood at the platform to address the residents, agitating the throng.
Enoch Wambua, a senator for Kitui, was compelled to intervene and beg Prof. Kindiki to leave since the sound of gunfire was growing closer.

When the Cabinet Secretary visited the area, the bandits, who had been terrorizing locals for years, made a bold move.

Kindiki presented Ksh1 million to the Kitui people during his visit to Mwingi North as a contribution toward the completion of a police station project that had stalled.
He was there in response to the rising hostility between the townspeople and the herders.
"I want to issue a challenge to criminals who believe they possess superior violence, methods, or tools to the authorities to dare to confront us."
