Moses Njoroge, who threw Eunice Wangari from 12th floor during a date after Facebook chats, sentenced
Moses Njoroge was accused of the crime against Eunice Wangari

A man was sentenced to prison for throwing a woman he met on Facebook from the 12th floor during a first date. A guy was found guilty by a Nairobi court of substantial bodily injury after pushing a lady from a building's 12th floor after a disastrous date.

On September 13, 2020, Moses Njoroge was accused of the crime against Eunice Wangari after they reportedly went on a date in the Nairobi Central Business District.

In its decision, the court found that the suspect's acts were not justified. Magistrate Esther Kimilu further noted that the suspect showed no regret after the incident.

According to testimony given in court, the culprit repeatedly struck the girl in the face while making her wear her shoes and offered no assistance even after she was thrown from the 12th floor.

"He kept hitting her in the face with his hand and making her put on shoes that the accused kept taking off," Magistrate Kimilu said.

On that fatal day, Ms. Wangari told the court that she had met Njoroge, who she thought was her boyfriend at the time, on Facebook and agreed to meet him for their first date in the Nairobi CBD.

On the day of the incident, according to Ms. Wangari, she traveled from her parents' house in Karura to Ambank House in Nairobi's central business district, where she met Njoroge.

Later, they would go out for lunch together before coming back to Ambank House with a drink in hand. They stayed there until approximately 7.30 p.m., when Ms. Wangari told the suspect she had to go home.

She said in court that the suspect insisted on staying the night with her because she was furious that she was going.

During the subsequent argument, Njoroge is said to have thrown her out of a window on the 12th floor, after which she allegedly fell three storeys to the 9th floor.

Ms. Wangari spent the next two months at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), where she got help from a specialist for her pelvic injuries.

The culprit will get a sentence on Thursday, December 1, 2022.
