Radio veteran Catherine Kasavuli, hospitalized at KNH, appeals for any blood type

Catherine Kasavuli, a veteran journalist and Kenya's first female news presenter, was recently given a cancer diagnosis. The Legendary journalist and news anchor Catherine Kasavuli has been hospitalised with cervical cancer.

Samuel Maina, the Managing Director of KBC, sent out a message in which he announced the news and encouraged well-wishers to give blood.

"To all of my wonderful friends, coworkers, and well-wishers, Catherine Kasavuli, a beloved coworker of ours who was just diagnosed with cervical cancer, is now being treated at the KNH Private Wing of the hospital. She is in desperate need of a blood transfusion from anybody who is able to help.

According to the statement that was sent out by Maina, "Your prayers and spiritual support would be extremely appreciated."

Because she is a universal recipient, any blood type will do when it comes to donating to her.

After stepping away from the public eye to focus on professional and personal concerns for a period of eight years, Kasavuli made a successful comeback to Kenyan screens towards the end of July 2021.

She is now the host of the weekend news on Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC). After signing a contract with the company, she was hired to do this job.

Kasavuli started her professional career in 1980 at the Voice of Kenya, which would later be called KBC. She worked there as a radio continuity announcer.

In the years that followed, namely 1985, Kasavuli would make the transition to television at the corporation. Kasavuli had worked for two years before enrolling at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication. He had no prior professional experience.

In March of 1990, Catherine became a member of the original founding group of KTN, which was the first privately owned television station in the country. She was the first anchor to ever do a live show on the channel, and she changed the way the station's pre-recorded shows were done.

Kasavuli left KTN in 2007 after working for the network for a total of seventeen years. She subsequently found employment at Citizen TV, which is owned and operated by Royal Media Services, and rose through the ranks to become the corporate affairs manager there. Kasavuli stepped away from the limelight and began working in the background in the year 2015.
