Joyce Wasike wants justice to be served since her son, Emmanuel Wasike

Joyce Wasike wants justice to be served since her son, Emmanuel Wasike, was discovered dead inside a bishop's vehicle in Likoni, Mombasa, in 2018.

A court was informed on December 7 that a 6-year-old kid who vanished in 2018 while attending Sunday school at Ushindi Baptist Church in Likoni, Mombasa, was discovered dead inside a bishop's vehicle.

Emmanuel Wekesa's mother said during her court appearance before Mombasa Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku that her son's corpse was discovered in Bishop Joseph Maisha's car, which had been kept within the church complex for two days, on the back seat.

According to Joyce Wasike, who testified in court, her son vanished on February 24, 2018.

The next morning, when she went to church to continue looking for her kid, she ran into Bishop Maisha, who asked what she was doing there.

The following day, on February 25, 2018, she returned to the church in an effort to locate her son there. While she was seated inside, Bishop Maisha arrived and asked her why she was there.

She received a call from another pastor shortly after, who started praying for her.

In the midst of the prayers, she saw numerous police officers on the church property with some church authorities, who informed her that the youngster had been discovered dead.

"My son had been discovered dead inside the parked vehicle within the church grounds while the prayer session was going on, and I observed numerous police officers and church officials.

"The vehicle had been sitting there while I was looking for my kid the whole time," she informed the jury.

According to a postmortem report submitted in court, Wekesa died as a consequence of multiple organ failure brought on by inadequate oxygen and blood supply to the brain (asphyxia).

Doctor Thabit Swaleh performed the postmortem at Coast General Hospital on February 26, 2018, and his results revealed that both lungs were "congested, with the left one being more crowded than the right one."

According to the autopsy report, the boy's brain had signs of early decomposition and vascular congestion.

The deceased's father, Richard Wasike, sadly described to the court how he had been accused of sacrificing his son as a sacrifice at the aforementioned church by members of his immediate family.

The grieving father said, "I simply want to know the truth; I want justice for my kid."

"I have been ostracized away from home, and I cannot be permitted to step foot in my house upcountry since the murder of my son. They assume I presented my son as a sacrifice."

He claimed that on February 24, 2018, during a Sunday School service at the church, his son vanished.

The next day, his body was discovered inside a car with Bishop Maisha's license plate, KBH 379N.

The next hearing date is March 23, 2023.
