The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) test results for 2022 have been released, and Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has said that they are a big step up from the tests from the previous year.

How to check KCSE 2022 results via SMS

Machogu made this announcement on Friday at Mithani House in Nairobi, when he was releasing the results. He also said that applicants who aren't close to their test centers can get their results through SMS services even if they don't have internet access.

"The results will be available for candidates to pick up at the test center that they attended." Individual candidate results may also be obtained by submitting a candidate's index number followed by the initials "KCSE" to the number 20076, added Machogu, who went on to say that the results will be made available as soon as his speech is finished.

  • Send the candidate index number to shortcode 20076 to get results instantly. The service cost sh 25 per SMS.

According to Machogu, out of the 881,416 applicants who appeared for the KCSE examinations in 2022, 173,345 got the minimum grade required to enter university, which was C+ or above. This number is much higher than the 145,776 who did so in 2021.

In addition to this, he said that the number of candidates who received a grade of A increased to 1,146 in 2022 from 1,138 in 2021 and that 522,588 applicants received a grade of D+ or above in the 2022 examinations.

The CS also stated that the number of students who achieved a grade of E on the KCSE examination in 2022 was much lower than in 2021, when it was 46,151.
