The police have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 71-year-old man in a Parklands lodge in Nairobi, where he had traveled with a 22-year-old woman.
The lady told the authorities that they had reserved a room at a lodging establishment, and after a short time, the male began struggling for oxygen inside the room.
After that, he had discomfort in his chest and back, followed by tingling in his hands and legs.
The lady sprinted out of the building from the third floor and approached a cab driver who was standing at the door. She begged him to assist her in saving the man's life.
The man's taxi driver took him to the nearby Aga Khan hospital, where he was pronounced dead after being driven there in the man's own car.
The location of the corpse was recorded by the police when they were summoned to the site, and then the body was transported to the morgue.
The police found out that the man and woman came into the room around 4 p.m. on Thursday, and that the person who died said he or she felt sick about two hours after they arrived.
The police have indicated that they are conducting an investigation into the event.
Authorities say, based on autopsy records, that this kind of thing happens a lot in the city's hotels and is usually caused by a heart attack.
