The official hosting agreement for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations was signed by representatives from the government of Ivory Coast and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Matches to determine who will compete in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will now take place in March of that year instead of September, as originally planned.

The decision to push back the qualifiers was made easier when the finals, which had been slated to take place in June and July 2023 in Ivory Coast, were pushed back to the beginning of 2024 in an effort to avoid the rainy season.

The delay of the Cup of Nations presented a chance to reschedule the remaining qualifying matches, according to a document that was written to the members of the executive committee of the CAF and that AFP was able to see.

In addition to this, it enables the scheduling of international exhibition matches in September.

The third and fourth rounds of qualifying for the 2024 Cup of Nations are slated to take place in March 2023.

Match days five and six are scheduled to take place in the month of June, while the sixth day is scheduled for the month of September.
