On Monday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua called famous singer and songwriter Ben Githae and asked him to apologize to the people of Mount Kenya for campaigning for the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition in the general election the year before.

"You went ahead to offer Raila the mountain that you did not have," the deputy president said to Mr. Githae when they met at the burial service of Ms. Pauline Nyokabi, who is the sister of Trade CS Moses Kuria.

Singer Ben Githae and the deputy president met at the funeral for Ms. Pauline Nyokabi for the first time since the conclusion of the elections.

Mr. Gachagua said that "when things were rough for us, all of the musicians, with the exception of a handful, deserted us and began advocating for Mr. Odinga and Mr. Azimio."

"It is your responsibility to pay attention to the audience and perform the songs that they want. Then you will be ready to go into business."

He continued by saying, "Especially you, Githae, you are responsible for apologizing to these individuals."

"You lied to Mr. Odinga by telling him that there was a mountain that you could provide for him. The mountain is ours, and we are its residents."

DP Gachagua says that the singer Ngaruiya Junior, who has always stood by Dr. William Ruto, has been offered a state job.

According to the Gachagua, "Ngaruiya Junior and Muigai wa Njoroge were the only artists who stayed faithful to their community while others joined Azimio."

On the other hand, Mr. Githae said not too long ago that he does not regret backing Azimio.

Mr. Githae said that he had to put up with abuse and humiliation from his relatives during a recent interview that was shown on Kameme TV.

He said that because of his work with Azimio, artists were able to increase their share of royalties from 16% to 52% from the Skiza Premium Service.

"I apologize to the people of the mountain, and we look forward to the next course," Gihae added.
