A family from the Budalangi constituency is pleading with well-wishers to assist them in raising 500,000 Kenyan shillings so that their daughter, who is just 6 months old, may have an emergency surgery at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH).

The family of Pamela Achieng says that she was born without an anus, which is a very important organ, and that she needs to see a doctor right away.

According to KNA Achieng's mother, Dorcas Omonyo, who is a mother of three and is now living in anguish as a result of seeing the difficult existence of their daughter, KNA Achieng has been through a lot.

"We need a half million shillings to arrange for surgery at JOOTRH in Kisumu for my daughter.

"The doctors say that since my baby was born without an excretion exit, she has to get the condition corrected," said Dorcas.

The problem was found by doctors at Port Victoria Hospital in July of the previous year, but the patient's family hasn't been able to come up with enough money to pay for the procedure.

"After going to Port Victoria Hospital and Siaya Referral Hospital, we were told to take Achieng to Kisumu's Jaramogi Odinga Hospital, where he would need surgery to get rid of waste in a normal way," Dorcas said.

"This was in order to have Achieng have a normal excretion process."

Because the fisherman can do so little to come up with the necessary amount of money, Pamela's father, Francis Onyango, now lives in constant worry of never being able to see his daughter again.

Omonyo said, "We're afraid we might lose her because she's in so much pain, but we can't help her."
