Dr. Eliud Wabukala retires from anti-corruption (EACC) work after six years of reforms

After leading the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for six years, Dr. Eliud Wabukala has made it official that he is leaving the job.
 

 

Wabukala took over for Philip Kinisu, who quit in 2017 after being accused of corruption even though he was supposed to be a leader.

 

EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak has written a heartfelt farewell letter for Wabukala, who worked hard in his role.
 
 

 

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) wishes Archbishop (Emeritus) Dr. Eliud Wabukala, EBS, well on his last day in service, which ended on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
 

 

According to the statement, "Archbishop Wabukala was appointed as the Commission Chairperson via Gazette Notice No. 398 of January 18, 2017, in accordance with Kenyan Constitutional provisions found in Article 250(2)(c) as well as Sections 7 and 10(5) of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2011."
 

 

 

 

Mbarak continued by thanking Wabukala for maintaining his composure and commitment during his time as chair.
 

 

"On behalf of the EACC's Commissioners, executive management, and staff, I thank the departing chairperson for his six (6) years of dedicated, stable leadership of the Commission."
 

 

 

According to Mbarak, "during his time, he was crucial in determining the strategy and policy orientation of the Commission, which has led to important milestones in the fight against corruption and the propagation of ethics in the nation."
 

 

At the conclusion, the EACC CEO wished Wabukala well in his future pursuits.
