Raila Odinga at Kamukunji Nairobi.

The head of the Azimio coalition, Raila Odinga, has replied to statements made by President William Ruto by stating that he does not want to shake hands with him.

Raila said during his speech on Monday at Kamukunji over the president remarks  over the weekend.

At Kamukunji, Raila said, "It was our performance in the Mount Kenya region where we broke all records."

"The people of the mountain voted for us like they have never done before."

"Abdi Guliye, Boya Molu, and CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan formed a cartel within the IEBC. The results announced had nothing to do with the votes you cast."

Raila Odinga says that Azimio doesn't agree with the results of the presidential election in 2022, doesn't recognize the Kenya Kwanza government, and doesn't want the IEBC to be remade on its own.

Raila Odinga added, "It was our performance in the Mount Kenya region where we broke all records. The people of the mountain voted for us like they have never done before."

"Gallant IEBC whistleblowers have now published the true and authentic results of the 2022 elections. We won with over 2 million votes."

On Sunday, President William Ruto and his associates made the accusation that Raila Odinga planned the gathering in Kamukunji with the intention of blackmailing the government into making a deal with him.

During a protest by the opposition about how the IEBC had manipulated evidence, Ruto said he would not give in to his demands.

"I will not let a few individuals subject Kenyans to demonstrations so that we refuse to serve the citizens and work for them," said the president. "I will not allow that to happen."

The president said that "what you received from intimidation should be enough since we can't work for a few individuals all year."

He said that those opposed to his government are looking at methods to blackmail him and his government.

"You will never again be able to keep this nation as your captive. It will not happen on my watch. I will not listen to one individual at the price of millions of Kenyans," he continued, "so go ahead with your protests."
