A court martial that was held at Lang'ata Barracks on Friday handed down a sentence of five years and eight months in jail to a Kenya Defense Forces officer for recruiting malpractices. The officer was proven guilty of the charges.

The Court Martial, which was made up of senior military officers and led by the Chief Magistrate of Makadara Law Courts, Agnes Wahito, found Major Ibrahim Juma Wasike guilty on two charges.

The second count is a violation of Section 313 of the Criminal Code, which says that it is illegal to get something by lying about it.

On this count, Major Wasike was found guilty of conspiring with one Job Lukale Maina alias Joseph Adiedo Mola to obtain $100,000 in cash from Colley Njeru under the flimsy pretext that he was in a position to recruit Kevin Gitonga Munene into the Kenya Defense Force (KDF) during the recruitment exercise that took place in February 2021. The exercise took place in February 2021.

On the second count, the accused was found guilty of working with Maina to get 6263 shillings from Njeru through the mobile money transfer service MPESA.
