KeNHA to fine Ksh45 Million for Motorists & Transporters breaking new highway regulations

The purpose of the campaign is to preserve the country's road standards and bring carriers under control. It also wants to cut down on the number of accidents that happen when a vehicle is too full.
 

 

They are wreaking havoc on a portion of the road that is a valuable asset, and they are doing it on purpose.
 

 

Ndungire remarked that some people tampered with the axle after going over the Mariakani weighbridge and that they only adjusted it after they reached the Athi River.
 

 

According to KeNHA, several of the carriers who were the focus of the operation had installed faulty lift axles in order to trick the weighbridge operators.
 

 

While arguing for the decision to levy large fines on carriers, KeNHA argued that safeguarding the Northern Corridor is essential to fostering transportation that is both cost-effective and competitive.
 

 

The Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Agreement (NCTTA) is a treaty that was signed in 1985 along with 11 protocols for regional cooperation. 

 

It was amended in 2007 with the goal of making it easier for states to trade with one another and for goods to transit between states.
 

 

It was founded by the member nations, and they gave it the mission to supervise the treaty's execution so that they could assess its effectiveness and alter the northern trade route.

 

The road was also constructed with the purpose of fostering economic growth in the East African areas. 

 

Kenya praised the construction of the road, stating that it had simplified the transportation of products and decreased the amount of traffic on key roads in Nairobi and other regions of the nation.
