On Thursday, the corpse of a 44-year-old teacher who was last seen on December 22, 2022, was discovered nailed to a coffin inside his house in Ihururu village, Nyeri County. According to reports, the teacher went missing that day.

The skeletal bones of Joseph Gathogo were found inside his living room after the caretaker of the property, William Gitau, reported a bad odor coming from the household.

When Gitau told the local authorities about this, they broke into the home of the dead soon after.

They found the corpse of the Muhoya Secondary School computer teacher nailed to the coffin, which was placed within a boat-like building that served as a makeshift burial marker.

Near the building that resembled a boat, there were a bunch of flowers, a black flag, some scrolls with strange writing on them, and a cow horn that had been put there. In addition, drugs that are thought to be poison were discovered at the site.

Assistant Chief of Muhoya Martha Wanjiru said that Gathogo had just come back from being an invigilator for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams on the day he was reported missing.

According to Wanjiru, he has not been seen or heard from since that time.
The absence of Gathogo was not reported by the neighbors until Saturday of the previous week, when his relatives showed up at the farm looking for him. They would eventually submit a report on the missing individual.

Gitau, the person who takes care of the farmhouse, says that he last saw the dead person on December 19, 2022. He describes the person as an introvert who spent most of his time alone.

According to what Gitau said, "You could only find him outdoors while he was heading to the stores to buy commodities."

"After breaking into the residence, the police discovered the teacher's nude corpse inside a coffin that measured three feet in length in his sitting room."

According to Steve Oloo, the commander of the Nyeri County Police, investigations into the strange incident are currently taking place.

He also said that the dead person's body had been moved to the mortuary at the Nyeri Provincial General Hospital for storage and an autopsy.
