[PHOTOS] Rigathi Gachagua climbs Mount Kenya to pray for William Ruto and celebrate the new freedom

Rigathi Gachagua, the Deputy President of Kenya, has climbed Mount Kenya to commemorate the country's independence.

 

Gachagua arrived for the first-ever retreat for members of the Cabinet and top echelons of the Executive on Thursday, January 5, at the Fairmount Mount Kenya Safari Club, which is located at the base of Mount Kenya.
 

"This morning, at four in the morning, I got up bright and early in order to go on a trip to the mountain full of fond memories.
 

 

Gachagua said that the one-hour hike, which included crossing the River Rikkia, made him think of the important battles he and his people fought for independence.
 

 

Gachagua was quoted as saying that he used the chance to thank God for being kind and generous to the people of Kenya and for giving the Kenya Kwanza administration the freedom that people can now enjoy.
 

 

"As I stood in front of Mount Kenya, I said a prayer to the goddess Mwene Nyaga, asking her to bless our great leader, President William Ruto, with good health and wisdom as he begins the process of restoring the dignity of the Kenyan people and the economic well-being of our country. 

 

"Mlima maintains its composure and her stoicism at all times," he stated.
