Woman in Kibwezi killed over government stipends

On Tuesday, a man who was 90 years old was brutally murdered by unidentified individuals and had his money stolen from him. 

 

Police in Kibwezi, which is located in Makueni County, have begun an inquiry into the incident.


According to the head of the local region, Nicolas Mwonga, the old man was attacked by the perpetrators shortly after leaving a bank in the Metava area.


The old man went to the bank to get the money he had gotten through the Inua Jamii cash transfer program.


Chief Mwonga saw that the assailants had slashed the victim's neck before disappearing with the money.


The deceased individual's corpse has been sent to the mortuary of the Kambu hospital.


During this time, a search for the individuals who are still at large has been organised by the authorities.


Orphans and other vulnerable children, elderly people, and people with severe impairments are the primary beneficiaries of the Inua Jamii initiative, which is run by the Ministry of Labour.


Beneficiaries of the Inua Jamii programme are entitled to receive a monthly stipend of KSH 2,000 if they meet the requirements.
