A report has surfaced indicating that the city of Nairobi is experiencing an epidemic of super gonorrhea.
In response to this claim, the city's residents have been warned by the former governor Mike Sonko and the former senator-nominee Millicent Omanga.
On January 12, 2022, the Star newspaper was the first to disclose the outbreak of the STD in the nation's capital. The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) had done a study that led to the announcement.
According to the research published by KEMRI, the drug-resistant strain of gonorrhea was identified in a sample that was obtained from 24 s£x workers in Nairobi in the previous year.
According to KEMRI researcher Amina Abdullahi, who was responsible for making the finding, the majority of the ill women did not even show the clinical signs of gonorrhea.

They also said that the condition is immune to the medications that are typically used to treat it.
Amina Abdullahi was cited as claiming that the findings demonstrated total resistance to all of the antimicrobials.
