Southampton vs Blackpool FA cup match today

On Saturday afternoon, the fourth round of the FA Cup will take place at St. Mary's Stadium, where Southampton will be hosting Blackpool. This will be the second of three consecutive cup matches that Southampton will play at home.

The men headed by Nathan Jones won the third round against Crystal Palace by a score of 2-1, while the Tangerines defeated Nottingham Forest by a score of 4-1 to advance to this round.

It's possible that Southampton will enter February having already secured a spot for themselves in the EFL Cup final and a bye into the fifth round of the FA Cup.

If the Saints' performance in the next two tournaments does not improve significantly, they run the risk of being eliminated from both competitions in a short amount of time.

On Tuesday night, Southampton hosted Newcastle United for the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final. The Saints were able to keep their lead for 73 minutes because the Magpies had trouble finishing their chances.

However, Joelinton finally got one right when he tapped home the winning goal to seal a 1-0 victory for the Magpies. It is not unthinkable for Southampton to overcome a one-goal deficit as they get ready to travel to St. James' Park for the second leg on Tuesday.

They already have the experience necessary to prevail against other top-flight teams when they are playing away from their home stadium in cup competitions.

Indeed, James Ward-Prowse and Adam Armstrong scored equalizers in their team's victory over Palace in the third round of the FA Cup.

This win was the start of a three-game winning streak for the South Coast team, which ended last weekend when they lost 1-0 to Aston Villa in the Premier League.

The 20th-placed team in the Premier League is hoping to advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup for the third year in a row this year, having previously advanced to the semi-finals in 2020–21 and the quarter-finals in 2021–22.

However, the fact that Southampton has lost four of its last five home games does not bode well for the Saints' chances of doing so.

They managed to beat Manchester City in the cup matches and can surprise the masses if they advance to the FA Cup finals.
