The week before, ODM chief Raila Odinga, made the announcement that the Azimio alliance will be holding interreligious prayers in order to pray for the society and the IEBC.

At this time, it is anticipated that the gathering that will be staged as a "call for prayers" will take place in the Jivanjee Gardens.

In addition to this, it seems to be a clear reference to the imminent reorganisation of the panel, which Azimio says would benefit the Executive as the seminal moment of his political struggle against President William Ruto approaches.

"We will also conduct a prayer... a repentance for the IEBC so that we get an IEBC that will protect the interests of our citizens, and that prayer will be done outside of the IEBC buildings at some point next week," Raila Odinga said.

MP Babu Owino issued a press release on Tuesday, February 21, in which he claimed that Chebukati had tampered with the election so that Raila Odinga did not become president and that Chebukati should show up and apologise for his actions.

"I want to invite all citizens to the prayers at Jivanjee Gardens, beginning at 9:00 in the morning.

"Come to Jivanjee Gardens, all of you who are guilty, just like Chebukati, and we will forgive you," Babu Owino said.

The ODM politician gave his followers the assurance that the event would be peaceful, despite the fact that it is believed that the prayer gathering may develop into ongoing confrontations with law enforcers, who have on many occasions cautioned against interruptions of establishments.

He continued by saying, "We shall be quite peaceful, and anyone who wants to confess their misdeeds is invited to come and do so."

The opposition's first plan called for holding the prayer gathering close to the entrance of Anniversary Towers, which is the location of the IEBC's offices. But this plan was scrapped over the weekend.

Several prominent opposition figures, such as the head of the Wiper Party, Kalonzo Musyoka, and the leader of the Narc Kenya Party, Martha Karua, are anticipated to participate.
