It is currently forbidden for the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to examine the CCTV video of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i's Karen home in Nairobi, taken on the purported night of a police operation.

The county DCI center in Nairobi had requested the warrants from the Chief Magistrate's Court on Wednesday morning, stating that it wished to reveal the individuals who were allegedly engaged in the operation due to accusations that these individuals were cops.

The DCI said that early research had shown that a private security company, Bob Morgan Security Services Limited, had set up, staffed, and run the CCTV cameras on the home.

The DCI indicated that it was investigating a case of suspected aggravated burglary at the residence and refuted that police were involved in the claimed invasion.

DCI said that watching the CCTV footage was important to corroborate the facts and that the National Police Service may not have approved the operation.

The DCI asked the court to force the manager of the private security company or one of his employees to give the detectives access to the video between 6 p.m. on February 8, 2023 and 12 p.m. on February 9, 2023.
