Again, Tyler Perry assists his hometown. After Atlanta's property taxes increased, the director and actor gave $750,000 to low-income seniors.

Mayor Andre Dickens of Atlanta made the significant donation on Monday, adding that rising property taxes have alienated many homeowners, especially the elderly on tight budgets who may feel even moderate increases.

Dickens said, "Atlanta's growth and prosperity should not come at the expense of our legacy residents, many of whom have been priced out of their homes in previous years."

Tyler Perry has notified us that he wants to assist with our heritage resident retention conversations.

His philanthropy will enable more Atlantans to remain in the communities they created. His contribution of $750,000 will reimburse property taxes for over 300 low-income seniors.

The donation will also fund a pilot program that will repay over one hundred low-income seniors for the tax increase.

The funds will be managed by Invest Atlanta Partnership, Atlanta's economic development organization.

Perry has aided his region through numerous charitable endeavors. The Tyler Perry Foundation, which was established in 2009, supports worldwide issues.

He gave $100,000 to Breonna Taylor's boyfriend Kenneth Walker's legal fund that year.Walker was sued by a wounded officer of the Louisville Police Department who gunned down Taylor in her home.

During the 2021 Academy Awards, Perry was awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for feeding the needy during the pandemic. His words recommended "refusing hostility."
