Investigators from the Lari sub-county police headquarters have been given permission to keep Jane Muikia, who is 24 years old, for a period of 15 days by the Limuru senior principal magistrate, Jared Magori.

Muikia is accused of killing her son, who was one and a half years old at the time, by suffocating him and then discarding his corpse in a pit latrine.

It is believed that on February 16, 2023, she murdered her son, who was one and a half years old at the time, and then went to live with her parents.

The mother responded to the parents' questions with explanations that raised more questions than they answered, which prompted the family members to file a complaint about the incident at the Kimende Police Station.

Investigation Officer Elvis Onyango asked the court for additional time after the convicted murderer was arraigned so that they could finish their investigations and conduct a mental health evaluation on the accused person.

He did this while submitting a miscellaneous application to the court after the suspect was charged with murder.

The perpetrator is going to be held at the Lari Police Station for the next 15 days, and the case is going to be discussed on March 8.
