Awendo Police shooting

A police officer who worked at the Awendo Police Station in Migori and is presently being held in detention is suspected of shooting and killing another officer who worked there.


The officer known as Sulubu is suspected of firing an AK-47 to kill his colleague Elijah on February 19 in the morning in the armory section of the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit in Awendo Sub County. The incident is reported to have occurred on Sunday.


Verifying the event, Suna East sub-county police commander Hesau Ochorokodi, who is filling in for the county police commander, said that the perpetrator, a policeman, shot his colleague as he was taking back his pistol to the armory after his night duty.


According to him, the bullet pierced the bottom half of the chest and exited through the left rib.


Despite the fact that he was transported to the hospital, doctors pronounced him lifeless as soon as they saw him.


According to the commander of the local police substation, the authorities have not yet determined what led to the homicide.


In addition, Ochorokodi said that the perpetrator was apprehended right away at his residence following the incident and that he is now being held at the Migori police station.


The inquiry into the situation is still ongoing.
