Leader of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition, Raila Odinga, has stated that every Monday there would be demonstrations like those the opposition held in Nairobi and other regions of the nation on Monday.
As Odinga addressed the demonstration in Nairobi's Eastleigh neighbourhood, he spoke to the crowd from the top of his convoy and described Monday's massive protest as starting a struggle for justice.
According to him, the demonstrations won't end until flour prices decrease.
" Kila jumatatau kutakuwa na mgomo. Kutakuwa na maandamano. Vita imeanza na haitaisha mpaka wakenya wapate haki yao," he said.
He was surrounded by several opposition figures, including Gladys Wanga, the governor of Homa Bay; Kalonzo Musyoka, the head of the Wiper Party; George Wajackoyah; and Eugene Wamalwa.
During a different stop in Kamukunji, Odinga said that the protestors' attendance on Monday is evidence that Kenyans are sick of President William Ruto's administration.
The former premier congratulated Kenyans for participating in the collective protest in such huge numbers notwithstanding what he said were government attempts to put it down and promised that they would not give up till the authorities heeded their demands.
As his followers clashed with police throughout the roads of parts of Nairobi and Kisumu for the more significant part of the day, Odinga kept a low profile, simply expressing his appreciation on social media in the morning before joining hundreds on the streets.
