Frank Lampard on Chelsea team ahead of Brighton game

Frank Lampard has a lot of work to do to avert a crisis at Stamford Bridge as he welcomes Brighton. Brighton has not been a small team to beat, and it is above the Blues.

Frank Lampard has not won any games since coming back to Stamford Bridge as caretaker manager after Todd Boehly sacked Graham Potter over bad performance.

Chelsea lost to Wolves before being beaten by Real Madrid in the Champions League.

In the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal matchup against Real Madrid, Chelsea must overcome a two-goal setback.

After Chelsea's 2-0 loss to Real Madrid, manager Frank Lampard made an effort to excite his team by emphasising that the match is still very much alive when Chelsea hosts the Spanish powerhouses at Stamford Bridge the following week.

Real was always going to be the heavy favourite at the Bernabeu against a goal-scoring-shy Chelsea team.

Vinicius Junior "disrespected" Chelsea's Fofana in Real Madrid's victory. Chelsea, though, seemed to be prepared to withstand the most devastating storm as Carlo Ancelotti's team pounded on the door.

Midway through the first half, Karim Benzema scored to give Chelsea the lead, but it didn't seem to dampen their enthusiasm as they kept pushing forward, and Thibaut Courtois made a spectacular save to keep Raheem Sterling from tying the score.

As the second half began, the game was evenly balanced, and the Bernabeu was unusually quiet since Real had been unable to motivate their home fans.

But when Ben Chilwell received a straight red for bringing down Rodrygo as the Brazilian was advancing on goal, Chelsea's reinforces were against the wall.

After Chelsea lost focus during a corner, Real ultimately scored their second goal on a spectacular shot from Marco Asensio beyond the penalty area.

The Blues did have one last opportunity to cut the lead in half when Mason Mount discovered himself with a few metres of space inside the box, but Antonio Rudiger's brilliant stop foiled his attempt.

Now it's up to Chelsea to attempt and pull off a spectacular recovery at Stamford Bridge the following week.

In an effort to jog his team's memory that the tie was still open to being won, Lampard relied on his previous accomplishments as a Chelsea player.

K24 will air the match between Chelsea and Brighton live from Stamford Bridge.
