Ahmed Rashid cop in eastleigh

Ahmed Rashid, a notorious crime fighter, is accused of killing two youngsters on March 31, 2017, in Eastleigh, Nairobi.


Rashid is accused of murdering Mohammed, Dhair Kheri, and Jamal Mohammed in 2017. Rashid has pleaded not guilty.


Rashid requested that Justice Diana Mochache set him free on a Ksh100,000 cash bail after being released on police bond.


Rashid said through his attorney, Dunstan Omari, that notwithstanding being released on bail, he had never skipped court.


Based on the testimony of state lawyer Gichuhi Gikui, the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) claimed that they were left with a request to make preceding the bail decision.


The court rejected the DPP's request for an extension of time to submit the application until 4 p.m.


He received a Ksh200,000 cash bail, which the court released.


Rashid said in a prior court hearing that the two teens attacked police officers before being slain in an armed robbery attempt.


According to the testimony given in court, "Concerning the occurrence in the year 2017, the two victims perished in the course of burglary; they were aggressive and had assaulted enforcement authorities."


The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) suggested bringing the murder charges after finishing its inquiries.


The 24,000-strong Eastleigh business community has subsequently petitioned the DPP to dismiss the allegations against the law enforcement officer, claiming that the officer followed the law.
