The Shakahola religious cult, whose inhabitants are purportedly malnourished to death before transforming into saints after death, has seen the retrieval of an additional seven victims.

On Sunday night, local authorities rescued the seven, many of whom were women, and drove them to Malindi Police Station.

The Malindi notorious pastor Paul Mackenzie Nthenge was apprehended on Friday and will appear in court on April 17, 2023, two days after his capture.

The police said they want to file a supplemental application under that heading to request an extension of Mackenzie's detention so they may finish their inquiries.

Families of Mackenzie supporters had gone from the regions of Kisumu, Kajiado, Machakos, and Kapsabet in search of loved ones they said they hadn't spotted or heard from in years.

"After seeing my brother on TV, I drove to hunt for him from Machakos. I have yet to find him, but I'm waiting to find out his whereabouts and how he got into this situation."

A murder squad from Nairobi and government pathologists have now travelled to Malindi in an effort to gather more details and retrieve the remains of two children who reportedly suffered torture before dying at the hands of their biological parents.
