President William Ruto, the price of maize flour is going to be reduced starting next week
President William Ruto speaks on April 14, 2023 at Mavoko in Machakos County.

According to President William Ruto, the price of maize flour is going to be reduced starting next week to less than Sh 120 before June 2023.

President Ruto promised citizens that the administration was trying to cut Uga costs in a speech on Friday after the opening of the Mavoko water supply project in Machakos County. He also urged the opposition to exercise patience.

President Ruto said that since the state had just begun importing maize to increase food production, market prices would fall within the allotted time frame.

"Kwa sababu lazima tubalance, mtaanza kuona bei mpya kuanzia next week. Because the maize we are importing comes from farmers in other nations, we must ensure that it doesn't harm our own farmers," he added.

"The maize produced by our local farmers is particularly crucial since it is the one that will support and rely on us."

He continued by stating that the anti-government rallies spearheaded by the Raila Odinga-led Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party will not lower living expenses.

In President Ruto's opinion, the opposition leader, Raila Odinga, should take a back seat and let him manage the country going forward since they were responsible for the present economic suffering by cooperating with the prior government.

"Hawa watu watu wa kuweka sufuria kwa kichwa wawache kunisumbua, wangoje nipange hii maneno kwa sababu walikuwa na nafasi ya kupanga walishindwa; si ndio walizubaa hadi bei ya unga ikafika Ksh.230? Sasa wawache kutuletea kiingereza mingi," he said.

"Sisi na Governor Wavinya wawachane nasi tupange mambo ya maendeleo huku Mavoko."

"Bei ya Unga itashuka hadi 120 ka mfuko wa kilo mbili kabla tufike mwezi wa sita."
