On April 5, retired Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM) Presiding Bishop David Oginde told Parliament that he was worth a total of 170 million Kenyan shillings.
Bishop Oginde was in front of the National Assembly Justice and Legal Affairs Committee to be checked out for the job of Chairman of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
He said before the panel, "My net worth is 170 million Kenyan shillings."
Oginde's nomination
On March 11, Bishop Oginde was put forward as a candidate for the position of Chairman of the EACC by President William Ruto.
A State House spokeswoman, Hussein Mohamed, put out a news release on social media that said the priest was chosen based on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission.
A part of the statement that was included in a press release said, "His Excellency William Samoei Ruto has proposed Bishop David Adang Oginde for installation as the Chairman of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission."
Oginde will assume the office of the presidency of the integrity authority after the departure of Archbishop Dr. Eliud Wabukala, who spent a full 6-year term at the helm of the EACC before stepping down.
This will occur upon the completion of his vetting and acceptance by the Parliament.
After a very thorough process of hiring, which led the Public Service Commission to suggest three candidates to the Head of State, Oginde has been suggested for the job.
The Public Service Commission had "conducted an open and aggressive search for candidates in the period leading up to the nomination."
According to the press release, "after the process was over, the PSC proposed to the President of State and Government that any one of Bishop David Oginde, Prof. Kibutha Kibwana, or Amani Yuda Komara be appointed."
