On Monday, April 17, a Tahmeed bus that was carrying people toppled on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway, leaving many of them presumed dead.


According to sources, a Tahmeed business spokesman acknowledged the disaster but noted that they hadn't yet calculated the precise number of deaths or casualties.


According to eyewitnesses, the bus flipped after the region suffered heavy rain.


The bus, which had a total of 26 passengers and three crew members, was travelling from Kisumu to Malindi.


Eyewitnesses also said that the bus's driver lost grip and caused it to drift off the road before coming to rest in a ditch.


A portion of the vehicle had been wrecked, and one side's windows were totally destroyed.

When the emergency evacuation crew came, they hurried the injured patients to Molo Hospital for care.

Ten individuals lost their lives when a bus lost control and overturned at the Josa location along the Wundanyi-Mwatate route in Taita Taveta County on Saturday, April 15.


The bus was carrying mourners away from a memorial service when the collision occurred, per a press release from the National Police Service (NPS).


The statement went on to say that when the car arrived in the Josa region, it drove off the road, rolled multiple times, and then came to rest some 100 metres off the road in a ditch.


The NPS statement said, in part, that "the accident resulted in the loss of ten lives (nine female and one male, all adults) and the injury of 17 people."


In the first three months of the year 2023, 1,070 individuals lost their lives, based on the National Transport and Safety Authority's (NTSA) most recent data, which was issued on Monday, April 3.


Speeding cars, crossing at undesignated intersections, driving while distracted or inebriated, distracted walking, and distracted driving all contributed to the number of passenger fatalities.
