Nick Pope at Newcastle

Nick Pope, who plays goalkeeper for Newcastle, is scheduled to have surgery on his left hand before the team's last game of the season, which will be played against Chelsea.

After moving to Newcastle for £10 million from Burnley, Nick Pope has been constantly present in the Premier League in his debut season at St. James' Park, and his contributions have been important in the Magpies' ability to ensure a place in the top four.

The custodian, who is 31 years old, produced a spectacular stop on Monday to deny Timothy Castagne of Leicester and ensure that Eddie Howe's team earned the point they required to assure that they will play in the Champions League next season for the first time in 20 years.

Pope had his left arm bandaged as he addressed a gathering in Northumberland on Wednesday afternoon. The match he played against the Foxes finished in a goalless draw, which was Pope's 14th clean sheet in the top division this season.

However, it seems probable that the encounter was Pope's last outing of the season. Due to the impending hand surgery, Newcastle has stated that Pope was forced to withdraw from the England team for the Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Malta and North Macedonia next month.

These matches are scheduled to take place in the United Kingdom. "Nick Pope, who dropped from the previous Three Lions squad due to injury, is not participating as he will soon be undergoing a medical procedure on his hand," read a statement on Newcastle's website.
