DR Congo’s Minister of Education, Tony Mwaba Kazadi, accidentally impregnates his Deputy Minister, Aminata Namasia

Aminata Namasia, his deputy minister, is said to have been impregnated by Tony Mwaba Kazadi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo's (DRC) minister of education.

Kazadi argues that the pregnancy was unintentional in defence of himself.

The two ministers, who happen to be married, are said to have had an adulterous relationship.

A DRC journalist by the name of Lungila John revealed the incident by posting the specifics on Twitter. The discovery of the romance and the pregnancy has caused controversy in the DRC and has spread like wildfire on social media.

Namasia, though, denied the claims earlier this month.

"I have a life outside of work that requires dignity from everyone in addition to my professional and public responsibilities. 

"It is a privilege that our Constitution grants to all Congolese people. It is unacceptable to damage my professional standing. In reality, it may jeopardise not only my personal obligations but also the credibility of my married male coworkers and their families," according to Namasia, who was reported by Fox Times.

"Political opponents are welcome to question my political views and conduct as we get closer to the upcoming elections, which are scheduled for December of this year, rather than using strategies designed to discredit me."

What Kazadi and Namasia's future holds is unknown. The fresh claims have not been addressed by either politician.

There is a chance that both ministers might be sacked, although the DRC administration has not yet made any comments on the matter.

On April 12, 2021, Namasia was named education minister by DRC Prime Minister Sama Lukonde. She replaced Tony Mwaba Kazadi, who had been promoted in February, two months earlier.

Namasia has a background in law and a long history of employment in the education field. She belongs to the People's Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD), which is now in power in the DRC.

Namisa, who was 25 when she was elected, was the youngest parliamentarian. In 2021, when she was 28 years old, she was given the position of deputy minister. She is now 30.

Kazadi is a politician and entrepreneur. Additionally, he belongs to the PPRD. His official experience includes serving as Minister of State for Planning and Development.

With a population of nearly 80 million, it is the second-largest nation in Africa by area.

Polls in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) are slated to take place in December 2023. In the last election, which took place in December 2018, the incumbent, Félix Tshisekedi, won with a total of 7 million votes, or 38% of the total vote.

He triumphed over rivals Martin Fayulu and Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary, who garnered 6.4 million and 4.4 million votes, respectively.

A total of 38.5 million people enrolled to vote, but only 13.3 million of them cast ballots in the election. The presidential swearing-in event is slated for January 20, 2024, while the elections have been planned for December 20, 2023.
