The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) leadership under President William Ruto underwent adjustments on Friday with upgrades and new assignments.


He said that he complied with the advice of the National Defence Council, which is presided over by Aden Duale, the defence cabinet secretary.


Promotions to the ranks of brigadier and major general, as well as the appointment of major generals to different institutions, are among the changes.


Major General Rashid Abdi Elmi has been assigned as the commandant of the National Defence College.


Major General Eric Mbugua Kinuthia was sent to the combined Command and Staff College and made commandant, while Major General John Maison Nkoimo was assigned to the Kenya Military Academy.


Major General Fatuma Gaiti Ahmed was sent to the National Defence College and made Senior Directing Staff Air, while Major General Charles Muriu Kahariri was named the deputy commandant and Senior Directing Staff Navy.


Major General Dennis Nyaga Njue Kamuri, who was formerly a brigadier, will now lead the Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation. Additionally, Brigadier Mohamed Nur Hassan was elevated to the rank of major general and given the responsibility of leading the Border Security Command.


The Directorate of National Security Industries selected Colonel Sylvester Kipkorir Chirchir as deputy director after promoting him to brigadier.


As a result of his promotion to brigadier status, Colonel Mathew Liita Lenamunai was named Kahawa Garrison commander.


Colonel Giliad Mwachala Kimonge was also elevated to brigadier and assigned the commander of operations, Defence Headquarters, while Colonel Joseph Kaku Mutua was advanced to brigadier and made the commandant of the Construction Engineers Brigade.


Colonel Omari Mohammed Rajab was promoted to Brigadier and appointed Deputy Managing Director of Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation, while Colonel Titus Gitamo Sokobe was promoted to Brigadier and named Chief of Infrastructure at the Defence Headquarters.


Brigadier Peter Kipketer Limo, a former colonel, was appointed managing director of the Defence Forces Canteen Organisation.


Colonel Oscar Kizito Muleyi, who was promoted to Brigadier and appointed Director of the Centre for Security and Strategic Studies at the National Defence University, and Colonel Oswald Oduor Opiyo, who was promoted to Brigadier and will continue to serve as Director of the Uhuru Gardens National Monument and Museum, are two other promotions.


Additionally, Brigadier Roba Bonaya Wario received a promotion and was assigned to the National Security Advisor's Office.


According to the statement, further adjustments have been made at different KDF levels based on the Defence Council's recommendations.


The modifications were made the day after 70 graduates of the National Defence College (NDC) in Karen, Nairobi, who successfully finished 49 weeks of intense training, received their diplomas from the Head of State, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces.


53 Kenyans from the military and other government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) participated in the training, with 17 of them coming from ally nations in Asia and Africa.
