Police in kapsabet town

Police are searching for a 23-year-old lady who, after a short encounter with her boyfriend, left a 1-month-old kid in a motel in Kapsabet Town, Nandi County.

Sharon Jepkemboi, a lady, ditched the child after duping the 34-year-old Mudete Tea plant employee to see her in Kapsabet town.

Abel Sang told sources that Jepkemboi had called to inform him that their infant was ill and needed medical attention right away.

Sang consented to meet up with his wife in the adjacent Namgoi Centre, which is only two kilometres from Kapsabet town. There, they decided to have tea at the Farmers Hotel while talking about the baby's health.

Later, the lady excused herself to attend to a bodily need and vanished without a trace. To never return.

"He told me over the phone that the bay was ill and needed me to take her to the hospital. But after talking to her and determining the child's health, it turned out that she was OK. She only intended to utilise the ruse and abandon me with the child," according to Sang.

Although the woman's primary residence is Barsombe in the Soy constituency, Uasin-Gishu, she has been residing at the Mosoriot Centre in the Chesumei constituency.

Hotel owner Nancy Koech said, "I only brought them tea and chapati, and soon the woman stated she wanted to leave herself for a quick call and never came back."

The guy was left alone and abandoned at the motel.

Sang went to the Kapsabey Police Station with the assistance of the neighbours and filed a report of the incident there to reunite the mother and her newborn child.

The guy and his infant were still stuck at Kapsabet Police Station as the search for the mother intensified. The reason for abandoning the baby is yet to be known. However, neighbours say there has been a problem, especially with food.

The lady had short hair and was wearing a pink blouse, a black jacket, and a black skirt. She had a black purse with her at the time of the incident as well.
