Millie Odhiambo, a representative for the ODM Party

Following violations of the House rules, two influential members of the national legislature were expelled on Thursday, June 8.

The two female parliamentarians who had flagrantly broken their conditions of participation (standing orders) during the ongoing session were expelled on Thursday as a result of a decision by Speaker Moses Maiska Wetang'ula.

Following their unjustified assaults on one another, Speaker Wetang'ula judged the two lawmakers guilty, causing the House to take a break for 15 minutes.

The speaker gave the two a two-week notice to leave the House upon his return. Millie Odhiambo, a representative for the ODM Party, and Sabina Chege, a nominee for the Jubilee Party, are the two who have been expelled.

Rozaah Buyu (2 weeks), TJ Kajwang (2 weeks), Catherine Omanyo (5 days), Joyce Kamene (2 sittings), and Fatuma Mnyanzi (5 days) were among the others who received the same notice.

According to the information provided to the media, the individuals in question were among the Azimio la Umoja MPs who objected to Wetang'ula's decision about the post of Deputy Minority Whip.

Wetang'ula argued, however, that Sabina Chege, a member of parliament, would stay in that position until all of the arguments in the lawsuits she filed had been heard and decided.

This is what caused a group of opposition MPs to get enraged with the Speaker over his decision before flipping on one another and insulting them.

Azimio pronounced Sabina Chege ineligible to occupy their house post after she just joined the government coalition in power.

Wetang'ula had recently hesitated to condemn Chege, insisting that Azimio first face her successor. This rapidly led to Azimio fronting Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje before Sabina objected.
