Uhuru Kenyatta, a retired president

Uhuru Kenyatta, a retired president, is planning to travel to the United Kingdom on vacation with all his family.

When Uhuru met with media editors on July 24, 2023, following a police raid on his son Jomo Kenyatta's residence in Karen, he revealed the trip. Uhuru humorously stated that the journey should not be seen as a runaway.

"I have felt peaceful. I've never had the enjoyable family time I desired. In fact, I'd want to take a trip with my kids and grandkids. Do not imply that I have fled. They deserve me, and I need to relax," Uhuru told the editors.

Uhuru was answering a query about his intentions to leave office after serving a ten-year term as president at the time.

Uhuru is scheduled to go to the UK with 15 members of his family on August 2, 2023, pursuant to a travel guide from the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs that has subsequently been posted online.

The family of former President H.E. Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta plans to visit the United Kingdom on August 2, 2023, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya to the British High Commission in Nairobi.

"The Ministry consequently seeks the help of the Esteemed High Commission in arranging the processing of the Entry visas for the aforementioned individuals who belong to the Former President's family," the letter from the ministry stated.
