Jackson Mandago, a senator for Uasin Gishu

Jackson Mandago, a senator for Uasin Gishu, was freed after posting a Sh2 million release from custody.

Joshua Lelei and Meshack Rono, his co-defendants, were also released.

The court also mandated that they post cash bail of Sh500,000 or a surety in the same amount.

Due to allegations that a fourth suspect had disappeared, the court postponed the plea-taking process.

The three have been charged with planning a scheme to steal Sh1.1 billion from an account at the Kenya Commercial Bank in Eldoret that was opened on behalf of the Uasin Gishu Education Trust Fund.

This Fund was created to pay for scholarship recipients' tuition at foreign universities.

Sen. Jackson Mandago of Uasin Gishu and three other people had arrest warrants issued by a Nakuru court on suspicion of misusing their positions of authority and stealing.

The police were looking for Mandago and the three officials in relation to the county's mess with the scholarships.

Joshua Kipkemoi Lelei, Meshak Rono, and Joseph Kipkemoi Maritim are the other representatives.

The three had earlier been evading capture since Tuesday night, according to police. They then moved to the Nakuru court, which granted the warrant.

He and the remainder of the three were searched after the judge issued the warrants. Charges of conspiracy to commit crime, theft, and abuse of office were expected to be brought against them.
