On Thursday night, as a pastor was walking to a restaurant near the Nyayo National Stadium, three individuals were apprehended for allegedly kidnapping and robbing him of his phone and cash.

The DCI Nairobi Area Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau investigators, with assistance from their Lang'ata colleagues, conducted an operation that resulted in the arrest of Bernard Mbunga Mbusu, Alphonce Munyau, and Samuel Musembi Kamito at their respective residences in Syokimau, Kitengela, and Kamito.

The victim, a pastor at Christ Church, was reportedly abducted and hustled into a waiting saloon vehicle as he was on his way to supper after a flurry of activity preparing for the next Benny Hinn crusade at the Nyayo National Stadium.

After hopping in the vehicle, the man of cloth said he was photographed undressed and coerced into giving over his Mpesa pin so the images wouldn't go up on his social media. The guy was freed after complying under pressure and having Sh55,000 sent to one of his phones.

The DCI team responded to a tip at Nyayo Police Post by reviewing forensic evidence; this led them to Bernard Mbunga Mbusu, the first suspect, in Village Apartment Hse No. F2 in Syokimau.

An iPhone 13 with the SIM card that received the stolen Sh55,000 and a PDQ bank card exchanging machine were among the three phones found during the search of his residence.

Following a short questioning, Bernard led the squad to Kitengela, where they apprehended Alphonse Munyau, the accomplice who had been in possession of the victim's phone, at Stengo 1 Apartment Hse No. E4.

After questioning Alphonce to the same extent, the crew tracked down the last suspect, Samuel Musembi Kamito, in the Katani region near the Athi River.

In anticipation of their Monday trial, the three were led to the Langata Police Station to be taken into a cell.
