I can still feel the chill of the morning. Not because of the weather, but more because of the void I entered. Someone had broken into my store overnight. They had taken some electronics, along with packages of tissue and unga. My small firm seems to have been hit by a silent storm. All I had was that shop. I used the money I made from selling used clothing in the sun to build it from nothing.
That morning, I sobbed because I felt violated, in addition to the money that had been gone. Whoever did this was familiar with me. They were aware of the location of my camera, which I had concealed under a crate, as well as my backup cash and keys. The fact that I had recently recovered from a protracted sickness and that the shop was my only means of subsistence made matters worse. Nothing changed when I reported it to the police.
